Display panel on Cheltenham-born composer Gustav Holst 1874-1934
Here is a celebration of the life of Cheltenham-born composer Gustav Holst in the form of an A1 frameless lectern panel.
Gustav Holst, composer of The Planets, had already been honoured in a park in Cheltenham with a fine statue of him conducting in the middle of an ornate fountain. Original sponsors Cheltenham Civic Society and Cheltenham Borough Council went one further in 2014 and commissioned us to create a Lifechart lectern display nearby which would explain more of his life and draw attention to the Holst Birthplace Museum – a fascinating memorial to his life.
Holst’s most famous pieces of music, apart from The Planets, are the hymn I Vow to Thee My Country (which uses the melody from Jupiter) and his setting of In the Bleak Midwinter.
